I love fall. THE most!
1873 – 1908
In the dreamy silence Of the afternoon, a Cloth of gold is woven Over wood and prairie; And the jaybird, newly Fallen from the heaven, Scatters cordial greetings, And the air is filled with Scarlet leaves, that, dropping, Rise again, as ever, With a useless sigh for Rest—and it is Autumn.
Honestly, the few--cruelly few--glorious days where the weather is crisp and sunny and the air smells of dried leaves are my favorite days of the entire year. I know we're supposed to be working on hunkering down, snuggling in, and--if you're like me--reading and knitting our way through until spring but I feel like fall is my spring. It's completely energizing in my opinion.
I know some folks really dig this season because of sportsball but what I'm talking about is the being outside part. Fall is perfect. . . when it's dry. There are no bugs, everything smells amazing, the colors (even the brown ones) are lovely, and you can go running around without getting all hot and sweaty. Like I said. . . perfect.
I think the reason why I like fall so much--aside from the weather--is that I have so many good memories associated with this time of year. Things like cozy fires with friends, Marching band (now band mom) things, the yearly unpacking of all. the. flannel., "sweater weather," and more apples than you can shake a stick at.
I also know that there are a lot of people who love other seasons more and I'm definitely not proselytizing (despite what the picture might look like). I don't expect to convert the masses. But. . I DO hope others find as much happiness in their favorite season as I do in mine. If I were granted omnipotent powers, I'd definitely extend fall and peak color a couple more weeks for everyone.
